RDYSL Board Meeting Minutes

Board Attendance: Gary Levine, Neil Fisher, Jacky VanDellon, Mark VanDellon, Mike Nelson, Lou Boyon, Mary Arter, Peppy Ehrlich, Kurt Regruit, Kurt Knoblauch

Meeting Called to Order: 2:00pm

1. Referee Update

a. Introduction of Jeff Bird the referee liaison to the RDYSL

b. Arbiter – Referee Unit has the implementation of Arbiter well underway for the 2006 season

c. Referee Meetings

i. Joe Walton and Gary Levine will represent the RDYSL at the next couple of meetings

ii. Review of points of emphasis that RDYSL representatives should present to the Referee Unit

d. Jeff Bird comments on his role and expectations for the relationship with RDYSL

e. Jeff asks questions about the RDYSL Referee Evaluation form

i. When does it become an active form on the website? – once the season begins

ii. What percent of the games are evaluations turned in on?

iii. These questions led to questions back to Jeff on how the Referee Unit handles referee advancement

2. Coaches Clinic Update

a. Participation was approximately 150 coaches

b. Pizza for the participants was sponsored by RDYSL, cost was $168.00

c. Recommendation to hold this session next year at approximately the same time

Decision – Yes

d. May need to delineate the session into two segments, one for younger coaches (U8-12) and another for (U13-17)

3. Overview of Gary’s Meeting with Jim Mort (Rochester Rhinos representative)

a. Rochester Junior Rhinos are integrating with Rochester Rhinos

b. Upstate Premier League will have U12 playing small sided 9 versus 9

c. Rochester Rhinos promotions with RDYSL

i. RDYSL can hold a game prior to the Rochester Rhinos game, the promotion has a list of guidelines that will be required of the participants

ii. Board consensus is that Gary should continue discussing this with Jim and to experiment with a few games this summer

d. Possibility of having a Laurie Calloway coaches workshop was discussed

e. Possibility of a Players & Coaches Clinic was discussed

4. Reviewed Upcoming League Calendar Dates

a. Gary will send out a couple of reminders

5. Gary Proposes a Club Presidents Meeting to Discuss Non-Competitive and Small Sided Issues

a. A May Meeting was discussed
